July 1987 Comic Book Sales to Comics Shops
Estimated Comics Preordered by North American Comics Shops
Based on Reports from Diamond Comic Distributors
No sales chart for Diamond Comic Distributors for July 1987 has yet been located. It would have appeared in the distributor's Diamond Dialogue newsletter. Comics Values Monthly magazine, which had started reprinting Diamond's charts with the June 1987 table, skipped this month.
Rival Capital City Distribution's top five for the month appear above, and seem likely to have been the top sellers at Diamond. Uncanny X-Men #223 would have been unchallenged in first place, with X-Men Annual #11 leaping up into second. X-Factor, second in June, would likely have been third, followed by new series Punisher and Silver Surfer.
Capital City's top graphic novel was The Incredible Hulk and The Thing: Big Change by Jim Starlin and Berni Wrightson, and the book would have likely led at Diamond as well as it had no near competitors.
We'll update this page should an official version come in. If you have a copy of the Diamond Dialogue for this month, contact us at the address at left.
