By June of 1997, Marvel had already announced its plans to end the "Heroes Reborn" project later in the year, even though all four titles remained in the Top 10.

The 20th of the month saw the release of the lamentable Batman & Robin film, whose performance sidelined the movie franchise for nearly a decade. By the second weekend of release, ticket sales were down 63%.
