January 2022 Comics Sales Early Look
Comics and Graphic Novels Reordered by North American Comics Shops
Based on Reports from Diamond Comic Distributors
January 2022 has four New Comic Book Days at Diamond and Penguin Random House, and four for DC's distributor, Lunar. January 2021 had four for both Diamond and Lunar.
The estimated comics sales for the month are expected to become available sometime after the month. Follow @Comichron on Twitter to get the alert when the report becomes available. In the meantime, you can get a sense of what sales might be like from noting what products were most reordered by retailers.
No advance reorder charts for December-shipping product were available, due to a ransomware attack against Diamond in November. While Diamond started reorder charts up again at the end of the month, advance reorder data was not made available.
Advance reorder charts will be released weekly during the month. Stay tuned!

Reorders, by contrast, are orders for items that had already been released at the time of the order. In other words, these are the comics customers have been asking for, generally speaking; while deep discounts December also put titles on these lists, the charts are ranked by invoiced dollars, which is what retailers actually paid.
Reorders placed between Dec. 27, 2021-Jan. 2, 2022
• Top reordered January-shipping comic book:
Inferno #4 (Marvel)
• Top reordered softcover graphic novel:
Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba Stories Water & Flame (Viz)
Like the earlier charts since the ransomware attack on Diamond's in November, the reorder chart appeared without an advance-reorder chart companion — and was again unusual in that every item on the list came out after the reorder period being reported. It's unclear what kind of orders specifically this list is reporting; it's possible it might be some kind of bestseller list (by dollars) just for January 5.
Reorders placed between Jan. 3-9, 2022
After many weeks in which Diamond was unable to release a traditional reorder list die to the ransomware attack it suffered in November 2021, the company returned with a normal reorder list for the first full week of January. It was, as reorder charts normally are, laden with graphic novels, since the charts are measured by dollar sales; indeed, no comic books made the list at all. Saga graphic novels, in conjunction with the resumption of the comics series, led the chart.
Reorder charts will be released weekly during the month. Stay tuned!
The true top sellers for the month will replace this page once they are released by Diamond.
